Your Future Therapist
Salomé Valencia-Bohné, MA, MSW, LICSW, CFSW
Hello and a heartfelt welcome from my corner of the world to yours. Finding a therapist can sometimes feel like a stressful task. You have a growing mountain of tasks that are building faster than you can breathe and going to therapy, while important, can sometimes feel like just another problem. You may think that your wellbeing can wait because the job, the life partner, and you-name-it, is more time sensitive. They can’t wait, but you can.
But, when you take a step back, that voice inside of you shares that if you were taken out of the picture, everything that depends on you would fall a part. In these key moments you remember that you are an integral pillar and supporting your health, while sometimes annoying, is a key part of supporting others.
About Me
As a proud mother to a neurodivergent child, a loving parent to a high medical needs cat, a careful steward of a fix-it-upper home, and a committed spouse to a neurodivergent husband, I can understand that our lives can be messy and complicated. I will work with you to find a path through stress, loneliness, self-doubt, overwhelm, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and pain even when life may feel like it’s at its darkest.
If you are a high-achiever, a people-pleaser, a self-doubter, a perfectionist, a juggler of to-dos, and/or a constant introspectionist then I would be happy to work with you to build healthier ways of being. I support people from all walks of life who straddle multiple life roles and cultures to build their confidence, create healthier relationships, and create meaningful and purposeful lives. Together, we will lean into your strengths and help you heal and grow.
To support your growth, I tailor a variety of interventions to meet you where you are at in this moment. They range from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Somatics, Financial Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Inner Child Work, Mindfulness, Solution Focused Therapy, Tapping, and more.
When you’re ready to take that next step in your journey away from shame and shoulds, please know that I would be happy to partner with you and together, we can change the narrative for yourself and future generations.
Lived Experience and Education
I was born and raised in a working class Latino home in the Yakima Valley to a strong and resilient woman. As a single mother, she taught me the importance of overcoming insurmountable odds and holding hope that we have the power to change the direction of our lives. It may not be today, or tomorrow, but through constant effort change is possible. Through these applied life lessons, and a lot of hardwork and struggle, I was the first in my family to graduate with a psychology degree from Pacific Lutheran University and the first in my family to receive a Master’s in Social Work degree from the University of Washington. After I received my full license to practice in the state of Washington, I became a certified financial social worker. Currently, I’m working towards becoming a certified gambling and gaming counselor and I’m working towards becoming a certified ADHD counselor.
I look forward to meeting you and learning how we may partner together to build the life you know is possible.
